Alfie
I know that not everyone will agree with me on this. For me, how a bass looks is of equal, perhaps greater importance than how it plays and how it sounds, probably because I am mostly rubbish at playing them. One thing I like to do is match the colour of the wrap to the colour of the bass. One colour I really don't like is the red of Fender and Rotosound steelies. I used to have a black Squier, which was great because any string complimented the bass. I particular I liked using the blue Rotosound Swing Bass nickels. On my Fender P Lyte I always use Fender Nickels to match the gold hardware. Fender stainless steel rounds = red Fender nickel = gold Fender stainless steel flats = green Rotosound swing bass nickel = blue Rotosound swing bass steel = red Rotosound jazz bass flats = red D'Addario shortscale nickels don't have a wrap What other options are there? Plux_the_Duck
most DRs (low rider/high beams/sun beams) don't have a wrap - and I think it lools better for it but they do coloured strings which are fun

molan
I had a Streamer that came supplied with gold Optima gold strings to match the all gold hardware. It looked pretty cool - in a very flash sort of way Unfortunately I'm mildly allergic to gold & the strings bought me out in blisters!
