light gauge strings for detuning

im needing to change to light gauge strings.. would say a .90 E string still be suitable for drop D tension wise?? im not worried about losing low end as i can boost my amps eq , i just dont want the D flapping around too much.. i play with a pretty light touch.. opinions please?

What are you used to using at the moment? A .90 string tuned down to D is going to pretty loose although should be playable.

I used 40-100's for dropped C tuning for one gig in an emergency, and the C wasn't too bad. But i wouldn't use 90's for anything apart from standard tuning.

My experiances with detuning with anything less than a .100 are not good. Any smaller of a gauge they become just too floppy and lose both tone and volume.
