SJA
RIP. he had a blog on the Kiling Joke website around the time of the 2003 Killing Joke album (even though Youth/Martin Glover and Geordie ended up playing bass on the album), and he mentioned a warning from his doctor that he had to stop drinking. 80's and Love like blood have great basslines. I think the Nighttime album has got the remaster/expanded release now.
99ster
My favourite memory of Raven is on the Night Time tour ('85 or '86) - some geeza got on stage at the Oxford Poly gig & was charging around like a madman. Got too near to Raven & bang - he dropped him with one punch - without missing a note of his bassline. Class. A proper old school bass playing hard man. SJA
I remember Bass Guitar Magazine (UK one) did an interview with Youth, the original Killing Joke bassist- but used a pic of Raven in the article! d'oh!

I've emailed the BBC site to complain - as I'm sure it would upset me if I was one of his family. And 'Requiem' was most definitely Youth playing bass. They could have made a bit more of an effort to get it right! UPDATE: Well fair play to the BBC - they've taken down the wrong picture since I emailed them (I expect other people did as well). Bass_In_Yer_Face
Oh man that's a choker. I'm a big KJ fan in all their various incarnations. 49 is way too young. Edited October 23, 2007 by Bass_In_Yer_Face

http://www.gearwire.com/paul-raven-killing...stry-prong.html I remember him using Status & Trace gear for one tour - he's used loads of stuff over the years - was using Warwick amps & Schecter basses for the last Killing Joke tour he did (before he left the band that is).
