Bloody hell! For the price of the Status neck he could have bought a decent bass. Hondo gear used to be sold through the Kays catalogue when I was a kid.... I think they also sold bras as well. Someone told me that. I never looked.

Hold on... I've got a black Hondo Precision-copy stuffed with an EMG. £300ish for a Status neck, a little bit for a new pickguard, and I can stick it on eBay for £1k+? It's even got provenance: "played by North-East bass legend Dave Anderson".

Sweet.

Pfff.... that's halved it's value right there.

IIRC (and Dave might correct me if he finds his way onto this thread), it was his first bass, so it'll be the one that he bashed out Buzzcocks and Undertones covers on through his youth. Which probably halves the value again.

Isn't he the one about whom Jeff Berlin once said "Dave Anderson? - Nah, never heard of him"?

Can I just mention that, as an avid eBay watcher, this must be at least the THIRD bass to turn up recently that is (allegedly) ex-Haydock.

Even if they're genuine, the one aspect of provenance that they all share is a complete lack of any evidence to support the claim.

I'm glad you mentioned that as I thought it was me having a senior moment. Why choose Haydock of all people?

Actually it was 'rumoured' to have been played by trigger from only fools n horses.Totally original bass just had 4 different necks and 9 different bodies, but apart from that totally original.
