merello Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Why.....is the Fender Standard (MIM) sunburst colouring so cheap, horrible and nauseating? Quote
witterth Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 yuk..... Horrid....KAYS catalogue stuff with fender label, mind you I've never been a fan of precision basses... (sorry chaps&chapasses) I'm aware its not the "thing" to say on basschat, a LOT of players seem to love them. not me though! Quote
rjb Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 (edited) Alot of new Squier Stuff is better than the current MIM output in my opinion. They should badge the Asian stuff as Standard Fenders and switch the Squier decal to Mexico..... Edited January 9, 2010 by rjb Quote
hillbilly deluxe Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 That is proberbly how the 60's/70's ones came, bearing in mind that the red and yellow will have faded by now and the black often takes on a brownish colour with age. Quote
nash Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 the white scratchplate makes it look bunk as well Quote

Mr. Foxen Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Can't have them looking as good as the US ones, there wouldn't be any difference to look at. Quote
bubinga5 Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Im sure anyone who owns one on here likes it!! :snob: Quote

I still think the MIM Classics are good quality and a lot of the standards I've seen look ok although admittedly I haven't tried one lately Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 I suppose if they play/sound okay , one could be purchased , left in the traffic for a while, then voila a 'roadworn' bass Quote
jezzaboy Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 I love P basses and I think that the MIM sunburst is a terrible colour. Now if it looked like the American Standard............no bugger would by the usa one! Jez Quote
Machines Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Sunburst with a white pickguard always looks grim. I'd like to see that same bass with black or tort and not in sunlight. Quote
hillbilly deluxe Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 If it was a vintage original, such horribleness would cost a fortune. Quote
Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 That kind of sunburst would probably look good over ash where you could see the grain. Quote
