Jon Liebman Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 I saw Carl Radle's name yesterday. I can't remember ever seeing it anywhere other than the credits on a Clapton album. He did a good job laying down those bass tracks! Jon Liebman www.JonLiebman.com Quote
alexclaber Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 I'm so underrated I don't even get rated on the underrated threads. I was listening to Korn's first album in the car today, really groundbreaking tour de force. Fieldy rawks! And Duff does a great job on Appetite. Alex Quote
BottomEndian Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 This might be going against the spirit of the thread, but... John Paul Jones Personally, I don't think he can be rated highly enough. Logic dictates that he is, therefore, underrated. In the true spirit of the thread... Mo Foster Awesome work on Scott Walker's "Climate of Hunter". And he's British too! Quote

Someone on here bought a white ’91 5 string Thumb with red LEDs that was supposedly built for and played by the man himself…and if I remember correctly, he only paid about £900 for it Can’t remember who it was though… Quote

Rick Anderson - The Tubes One of my favourite bands who I will always make time to get to see at least once (if not more) when they are over here
+1 The Tubes. What Do You Want From Live is an amazing album from start to finish. Rick Anderson and Prairie Prince are as tight as a knats chuff (Whatever a knats Chuff is lol) Quote
Spoombung Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Here's one that most of you won't know about. From the free impro/experimental world, Jerry Bird: http://www.myspace.com/jerrybirdmusic Quote
Spoombung Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Also, Walter Becker from Steely Dan is an incredible melodic player. Quote
turtlemoon Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 (edited) Simon Raymonde - Cocteau Twins.... Nothing fancy but very hypnotic/melodic. Colin Moulding - XTC... Mayor Of Simpleton , nuff said. Mark Burgess - The Chameleons.... Inspired. Andy Rourke - The Smiths.... Forget Moz and Marr. Paul Gray - The Damned... Love his bass sound on The Damned's The Black Album. Segs Jennings - The Ruts... Very Underrated. Edited June 12, 2009 by turtlemoon Quote
rslaing Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 I sense general disdain for guitarists in this forum , but this guy is brilliant. Played a lot with Jaco on guitar, obviously picked up a bit from him, as seen in his bass playing here: Quote
karlfer Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Cant believe that I cant find reference to Gary Thain, Uriah Heap (sadly long dead) If you get the chance listen to his work on Magicians Birthday, Sweet Freedom or Demons and Wizards. Massive influence on me as a kid. Karl. Quote
TRadford Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Another one for Tony Kanal from No Doubt. Even years ago before I ever though I'd touch a bass, I always listened to him and wished I could play some of the lines he does, especially "Different People" Im making it my goal to learn that song, dont care how long it takes. Some of the songs from the lesser known first 2 albums are awesome too. Quote
