tonybassplayer
Just been having a bit of a wild idea and wondered if anyone knows of a place that does something like a "summer school" camp for bass. Thinking down the lines of somewhere for a long weekend or week when all you do is eat, sleep, drink and play bass. I always seem to be playing what I need to for the band but a few days away learning things from different genres etc could be great fun and a brilliant way to make some more bass playing friendships. Anyone know of somewhere that this happens ??

yorks5stringer
Stevie Williams was talking at the National Bass Day about something he's arranged, I think it was on one of the Balearics? At least the weather should be nice..... Can't find a link to it but there are plenty on here who may have details?
Dood
I maself have been toying with the idea of doing some sort of Bass Camp - or at least something accessible to everyone, everywhere - be it a DVD 'Bible' or Online resource. Time has been a bit against me at the moment - but I hope that I can pull my finger out and at least get the ole vid cam out for some Bass action! jakenewmanbass
Thanks Nik, I have indeed thought about such a thing, and may well yet try to put something in action for later in the year. It's the sort of thing I would need a partner for as I'm good on the content but being a full time bass player and MD and producer make the organisational aspects of this tough for me.... hmmm food for thought. I realise that Basschat would be an ideal platform for something like this... *cogs turning sound*
tonybassplayer
Many thanks for the response so far and very pleased to have prompted some basschat members to think about running such an adventure It would be very nice if something could be arranged. I am certain that there would be plenty of bassists on the site who would be interested in a weekend or so of playing, learning, socialising etc Looking forward to hearing more
doctor_of_the_bass
One of my very good drummer pals and I were considering putting together a Summer Rock School type project here in Cambs, however, the main problem being that we both work pretty extensively for a theatre summer school which takes up a number of key weekends in July and August, coupled with gigs etc. means its pretty tight time-wise! I'm sure something could be put together....
