Cat Burrito Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 I'm watching an old Eagles bootleg and he is playing this which I'm always seeing him pictured with. It looks like a JapCrap Fender copy headstock but an Epiphone body. Anyone know what it is? Quote
Clarky Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Calling Bassassin! Certainly looks Japcrap Quote
Cat Burrito Posted January 10, 2010 Author Posted January 10, 2010 That's what I thought. He certainly seems to like it. I think he is a really tasty player too. Some lovely basslines and to do great harmonies on top. Respect! Quote
wateroftyne Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Great player! I know him more as a P and a Ric guy... Quote
Clarky Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010
Looks a little like a Hagstrom?
Thats it Hamster, spot on! - you can see the odd shaping of the s/p near the jack lead plus the odd control buttons. Case is sol-ved! Quote
Cat Burrito Posted January 10, 2010 Author Posted January 10, 2010 Thanks Hamster & cheers guys. I assume the Hagstrom comes as a 4 string too as that is what Randy was playing? I know what you mean WoT - I think because he played it on a TV gig the photos from that set are common Quote
Cat Burrito Posted January 10, 2010 Author Posted January 10, 2010 In fact, here it is! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Hagstrom-II-Bass-Gui...=item53deedad68 Quote
steelman Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 I've seen him with a P a J and a Ric on youTube but not seen the Hagstrom. Lemmy listed a Hagstrom in his itinery on one album though i've never seen him play one! C Quote

xgsjx Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Interesting looking bass that Hagstrom. Eagles have some cracking songs. Arn't they devil worshipers tho? Apart from the dyslexic one that sold his soul to Santa. Quote

steelman Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 He's using a Ric on the Hotel California live one from 1976.Half-way through the geetar solo Felder and Walsh start laughing. Apparently Felder said ' You've got coke on your nose!' No surprises there then! C Quote
faceman Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 (edited) I used to be a big Eagles fan, saw them live at at O2 Arena back in 2008. Randy used Fender P-Basses for the first two albums, then moved to the Hagstrom for the third/fourth albums and the Rickenbacker 4001 for Hotel California. His tone on Hotel California live is fantastic, just like a good Rickenbacker should be http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-qlORj0n2M Timothy B. Schmit currently uses various Fender Jazz Basses, good live time! I've seen some photos of him using a single-coil Precision too around the time The Long Run. What can anyone tell me about Hagstrom basses? Don't know much about them! Hope that helps! Edited January 12, 2010 by faceman Quote
wateroftyne Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Here he is playing a J on the the Hotel Califonia tour: I must say, it's nice to see such Randy love. He deserves it. Hooray for Randy love! Have we done Randy's finest bass moments? Here's mine, in no particular order: 1. Too Many Hands 2. Midnight Flyer 3. You Never Cry Like a Lover Quote
steelman Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 I'm a big Randy fan! Lovely lad. Great high register harmonies ( why does the bass player always cop for these?) Bullied out of the band by his 'superiors'. Quote

Fuzzy_melon Posted February 24, 2022 Posted February 24, 2022 (edited) Hagstrom H II B Circa 67-69. I have one exactly like it. Probably the fastest playing bass I've ever used. Looking for the white switches if anyone knows where to locate them... Edited February 24, 2022 by Fuzzy_melon 1 Quote
