funkysimon
Anyone have a handle on what to play for the fills in Car Wash? For ages I've been playing it up around 10th fret, something like G -10h11p10----------------------------------- D ----------12--------10----10-------------12- A -----------------12----12----12------------- E --------------------------------12b13-10---- But then I was just looking at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cyFf_QIcWQ And he's getting some good stuff around the 7th fret on the G string. Anyone else have any suggestions?
Sean
There's a fill in Stuart Clayton's slap book that is near enough to use, I stole it and tweaked it slightly. I've also thought that it sounds more authentic in the fifth position. Simon, I can hear ghost notes in the one on the record, I'm sure. stewblack
I play it between 7th and 5th (with just a hint of 6th) g string down to a. Sounds great. Edited October 23, 2007 by stewblack

I play a descending D minor pentatonic lick off the 7th fret G - can't remember what exercise in my book was similar, but that's probably the one I use. I've always meant to transcribe the track since I love the bass part. Now here's a question.... anyone know who played bass on the original? I do.
