rasher80 Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 I'd quite like a Stingray and a 70s Jazz (lefty of course!) Don't have anything like the money i'd need for those, so i'll settle for a G&L Tribute L2000 and a Squier VMJ Quote
niceguyhomer Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 I'd keep my Shuker cos it's the best bass in the world for me, and I'd invest the money in some more lessons so I can do it justice. Quote
Veils Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 (edited) I'd either have Jon build me a pimp ass jazz, but the one bass I have always lusted after is a Sei Original 5 which the below pic of James Leach made me desperately want! Edited January 13, 2010 by Veils Quote

Bigwan Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 There are many basses I've lusted after over the years. Luckily I'm at a point where there are very few I actually want any more - my current harem keep me pretty happy. I'd have to say if I had to choose it'd be a nice vintage P would fit with my current tastes. Would have to be sunburst, rosewood, tort, well used. A player, not a museum piece. '64 ish I would think. Being relatively bass-GAS free leaves plenty of room for amp-GAS. I' having trouble resisting the new offerings from orange - a bass terror and one of those isobaric 2x12 cabs would be nice! Quote

In summary, heavy and huge but smooth-sounding and loud. Not very metal, and I feel that's your orientation, judging from your other post above... For me... dunno. I'd like to give an Enfield (with the Super 8 pickup system) a thorough workout. Quote
Sonic_Groove Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Have to be an Alembic -- This one would cover it... B Quote
RhysP Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 If Joe Zon would build me one (which is highly unlikely) I'd have a bass/12 string guitar twin neck Zon Legacy. Failing that: An 8 string Zon Legacy & a twin neck Shergold (bass/12 string guitar) like Mike Rutherford played with Genesis in the 70s. Quote

Cat Burrito Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 I'd have a whole series of 50s-70s fenders that people would describe as museum pieces Quote
purpleblob Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 I always wanted an Alembic the one Stanley Clarke has as a piccolo but also rather fancy a Fodera MG 6 string and these tend to be a tad too expensive for me to justify. Quote
Sarah5string Posted January 13, 2010 Author Posted January 13, 2010 Ok so I'm adding a couple to my shopping list.. and now have serious GAS.. Deep Thought Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 I'm also more than happy with what I've got-the only thing I still fancy is an all-black Rick-but that's just curiousity really, if I ever got one (most unlikely!) I could end up selling it after a week. Same goes for a black/black/maple 70's Precision. Quote

http://www.fodera.com/a_jackson.html
At $25,000 that would definitely come under the heading "money no object"!! I personally find it ugly... but I just don't really get these single-cut basses I'm afraid - no matter how "balanced" they are supposed to be, I just think they look silly! The Fodera Monarch range are REALLY beautiful on the other hand. However, what I'd love to do is go to Frank Usher and ask him to find the most amazing piece of wood in the world and turn it into something similar in shape to the Monarch. Probably four strings, but maybe five... three band active EQ... solid gold hardware, oh and a team of beautiful naked women to transport it around for me. After all, I could afford to pay for them, couldn't I?! http://www.frankusherguitars.co.uk/ Quote

Shouldn't you set your sights a bit higher than that?! Quote
garethox Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 I'd have a couple more Status basses. There's a nice one on their site with a Kahler tremolo system and I'd have a Walnut B2 with L.E.D's and a built in digital display - don't know what it would show - probably tone and volume settings.... just think it'd be cool! Quote
Stingray5 Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 I'd go for this Pikasso (around $25,000) just so I could say to a group of guitarists "my guitar's got more strings than all of yours put together... nyah!" Quote
