Unfortunately has Schaller (I think) bridge and EMG pickups. Shame, for a second I thought it was what I had been after ....

I see that he's letting the pictures do the talking! :)

<edit>

The pups are the significantly cheaper EMG 'selects'... iirc they are also passive.

I prefer it... but then again I'm not gonna spend £2k on a 35 yr old bass! :rolleyes:

Suggests it hasn't been exposed to much sunlight as the red fades quickest

See 72P in my avatar which has a load of red in the 3TS too. Me like!

Re: overpriced, given it would cost £500 to replace bridge and p/u's with 70-s originals I agree

Re. overpriced - the Schaller bridge is not a direct replacement for the original Fender as the screw holes don't match up, so the body would most definitely have additional holes in it.

Of course, if you were actually buying it to play it, the Schaller bridge would be a plus point, and then the only problem would be that it's overpriced because you can get much better basses than 70s Jazzes for less than 2k... :)

Maybe, maybe not... but not many that'll be as much help to oneself in one's dotage. :-)

If we're going to talk about money, you could look at it as this...

Spend a little less now and have a few more quid in your pocket, or spend a little more and most likely reap a shedload further on down the line.

Whatever works best for ya, eh?

Serial number puts it squarely in 1975:
