Faithless
Ok, so I've seen John P playing Ken Smith basses a while ago, but now he sticks with his custom Yamaha. I must admit, I can't stand his sound on Yamaha, but I love him on a Ken Smith. I've checked Talkbass, but could find it anywhere, so.. Anyone could tell me, from when till when he played Ken Smiths, and what albums should I check out, where he uses a Smith? I've seen him doing his thing on Smith, when playing with Chick Korea, but, that was a live thing.. Any info greatly appreciated, Faith

I've just checked and I think it's just his first two albums 'John Patiucci' and 'On The Corner' have him playing his Smith, 'Sketchbook' seems to be the first with the Yamaha... I have the first two on vinyl and they are signed Hope that helps Mike
Sonic_Groove
His album "On the corner" is mainly Smith 6 string with some Yamaha 5 string & Acoustic I guess the average tone of later stuff is a bi-product of going for the endorsement deals? As Mike says Remembrance is a good album & the Yam sound great on that. B
Doddy
I think he played the Ken Smith on the first Elektric Band album aswell. I love Patitucci's playing on both electric and Upright. I've got a DVD of the Akoustic Band at Montreal Jazz Festival, and he plays stunningly.I met him the other year aswell
Faithless
Thanks a lot, guys.. I'll also check his new album, how Yammy sounds - last time, I heard his yammy at bass day 97 show - terrific clank-o-twang sound.. Although his solo on Coltrane's tune was the best from all that bunch of players.
