Thebassman75
Has anyone tried one of these?? Thanks[/quote] I fitted a varitone onto my EB and it had quite a dramatic effect. I should imagine it would be very useful on a decent Jazz. They don't offer any real 'boost', it's all treble cut but they do offer more than a plain passive tone control.
Thebassman75
So would you say I should still uprate the pups for more clarity and output?
henry norton
Yes, a varitone is basically a bunch of capacitors that will take away various parts of your signal just like a passive tone control so if you want more output or a wider frequency range then you will need hotter or wider range pickups. tom1946
I have that very one on my MIM Jazz. It does give a good range of passive tones and a bit more versatility. I think it's worth the money Oh and I did uprate the pickups to Custom shop 60's, awesome now. Edited January 17, 2010 by tom1946
Metalmoore
I would also recommend the Audere jazz. Gotta love it, i can get a kind of p bass sound out of it i think. Also about the same price as the varitone and im sure there is plenty of us with them on the forum.
