R,5,R,5...
Due to a recent acquisition I'm going to be selling my Kern. These preamps are not made anymore and are quite hard to find. Harder still is finding one that works on 240V. I had mine professionally converted to European voltage (mine does not use an external transformer -- it is the last version they produced). It is extremely solid, and is well-known for its ability to go from fat and/or overdriven to crisp and clear. The tonal balance control is basically the only control you need once you're happy with the B/M/T settings. It has a Jensen transformer which makes it very good for recording. Some information is available here and here. A Bass Player review is available here. And reviews from users here. £600 plus actual shipping costs, or pickup from London SW1. Please pm me with any questions. Edited October 28, 2007 by R,5,R,5...
6stringbassist
Yesterday and I'd have had this off you, I've only just (2 hours ago) ordered an Alembic preamp, this is by all accounts a souped up version of the Alembic.

I prefer the Kern to the Alembic (at least the F1-X) as it is in my opinion more versatile. Cheers r5

Gwilym
sweet. just had a listen to the sound clips on basstasters.com. it sounds like a cross between the Demeter 201s and the TE V-Type.
