saxobass
I`ve been offered a Tokai Jazz copy and I think it is over 15 years old. I know the guy well and he looks after his kit. Does anyone here have experience of these basses and can offer any guidance/advice?

BassBus
Tokai Jazz sounds have always had a good reputation. I have a 1984 model and it's great. Had it defretted in the late '80s and it produces that lovely fretless jazz sound just fine with halfwound strings.
bumnote
I have a tokai hard puncher [precision] from the 80s i think and its a great bass Like everything theres good and bad try before you buy, but Tokai have made some great stuff in the past
Jerry_B
I tried one back in the late-ish '80s and really liked it. Just didn't have the money at the time to buy one!
machinehead
I have a Tokai jazz in sunburst. It's lovely to play and a great growly sound. I'd go for it. Frank.
henry norton
+1 on all that. I had a lined fretless Jazz Sound in the late 80's and it was pretty good. Like early Squiers, some people rate them above US built Fenders of similar vintage.
silverfoxnik
I had a CAR one for a few years and it was fantastic; 1984 model IIRC. Traded it with Beester 3 years ago but still miss it to be honest..
