People get so excited about obsolete tech that they make up new obsolete tech.

People need to post their amp guts here too. Otherwise I'll run out and have to go buy more amps.

There was an amp guts thread a couple of months ago that was fascinating, but it was poo-pooed and fizzled out. Unfortunately, I can't help because my amps are in a rack thingie. Otherwise I would contribute with some internal pics of amps that use - wait for it - integrated circuits! :)

I did have a look for it. Got impatient. Ain't photoed my SS amps cause if they are dead, I can't do much to fix them, so they don't come apart much.

{Nit picking mode on}
There wasn't a commercially viable alternative to valves till the early sixties ... so I guess you could call valves a 1900's - 1950's technology --- Wikipedia Vacuum Tube

60w Carlsbro PA I've been working on myself, all works now, but the reverb is really microphonic from the rubber mounts being perished.

My awesome handiwork fitting much smaller modern caps in and sticking in with silicone:

All mine are in the 'Show Us Your Burmans' thread.

I have to say that the crimp connectors in Mr Foxen's first picture look like a recipe for disaster to me. I don't know what that is, and I dont' want to !

Haven't had reason to take my other Burman apart since I first cleaned it and I didn't have a camera handy at the time. It is due a recap though.

What could the disaster from the crimped connections be? Its done properly, and they are all secure.
