chris_b Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Jet Harris started many bass playing careers, but this comment on the newspaper article made me laugh..... "Is this for services to the brewing industry?" Quote
skankdelvar Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010
He took the bass guitar 'out of the shadows'...
Is that the well-documented occasion in 1962 when he left the band in a fearful strop, taking his instrument with him? Quote
MIJ-VI Posted January 18, 2010 Author Posted January 18, 2010 Just imagine how far Mr. Harris' career could've advanced if it weren't for his personal problems. As it is, his body of recorded work stands proud. Credit where it's due I say. He proved that a bass player could be more - a lot more - than just a 'sideman'. Jet Harris has my respect. MacDaddy Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010
Allegedly.
no allegedly about it, Cliff and Jet admit it. Cliff had an affair with Jet’s wife, one from which the marriage, and in some ways Jet himself, never recovered. For 30 years, the loyal Jet never mentioned this, not even to Cliff himself. It only became public when his ex, Carol Costa, made it so; and this year Cliff referred to the sorry saga, albeit fleetingly, in his autobiography. from http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/artic...n-princess.html Quote
chris_b Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Have any of the other Shads got a gong? Quote
bumnote Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 I have met him a couple of times and he is very nice and funny man. He was the reason for my taking up the bass in the first place and i still enjoy a dose of playing the shads now. Good luck to him Quote
acidbass Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 One of my favourite players, his stuff on the early Shadows albums is great! Good to see that he officially has recognition. Danny Quote
