andy.
I was trying a great bass out but the only problem is that when the volume on the bass is above half way it starts to distort. They guy said all active basses so this, I quickly informed him that im not a chump. But does anyone know why it may be doing this? The tech is going to have a look but i dont have much faith tbh!!!! d-basser
Try a fresh battery, also is there an active input or switch on the amp you are using?

Paul_C
If it's had the vol pot replaced, it might be the wrong value - I had an active Clapton Strat in for repair that had had the vol pot replaced, but with a 250K instead of 25K, and it made a howl of feedback when it was turned up beyond about half way. andy.
Tried it through an SVT, Messa Boogie and a Marshall, it did the same distorting thing through them all.

andy.
Guitar Guitar, the bass is a fender us p bass with a musicman style pickup at the bridge.
neepheid
The bit I find most disturbing is the "The guy said all active basses do this" bit. This was in a shop? Holy sheet, that's less than incompetent.

d-basser
Was it one of the Dlx models that come with the humbucker at the bridge. Played a few of them that had pretty dodge pots on them.

Sarah5string
I've had 3 active basses and 2 passive. The only time I've ever had it distort like that was through faulty wiring on one of my PASSIVE basses... never the active. The guy's talking crap.
