MacDaddy
Hi I want to convert a cassette recording of a live gig by my old band to mp3. Is there anyone in that London who could help? A few beers would find themselves going your way cheers McD
Al Heeley
Audacity is a free download for pc - u can play the cassette into your soundcard line in and record it in Audacity, then save in mp3 format.

MacDaddy
I have Audacity, what I no longer have is a tape player
Bilbo
I could do it but you would have to send me the cassette. Can you copy that and send it to me? I could then convert and return via email or on CD. Your call. Rob
Al Heeley
Hmm, how's he gonna copy it? If he had facilities to do that he could play it into his soundcard and do it himself

Netballman
FWIW I have a hitachi stereo unit (can't remember the model no, but can check it tonight if anyone's interested) which has a cassette and a USB port, and you can copy direct in MP3 format from one to the other (and likewise from other inputs). Did my old band tapes (from the 70s!) and some vinyls on it! Only cost about £70, and it's not a bad general music system either. I'm sure they do similar models now (bought this about 5 years ago). Thought it was a very handy feature!
