TGEvans
Am I correct in thinking that the Aguilar Tone Hammer does the same kind of thing as a Sansamp bddi and an MXR M80? Have never had the chance to try one out. What do peopl think of them? Did a bit of a search but nothing much came up. Thanks,Tim.

TGEvans
As in a pedal that acts as a tone shaping tool that can feed to the pa or an amp. Does it overdrive like the sansamps? How do they compare?
redzombie
I've not tried the Tone Hammer, but I do know it does not have tube-emulating circuitry like the Sansamp pedals. As for drive, it has a "gain" knob, so maybe it'll do well for pushing a tube amp harder into overdrive. Hopefully someone who's actually tried one can chime in. I get the impression, though, like it's more about tone shaping with the EQ, than adding drive/warmth to your single by way of a drive circuit. dannybuoy
It has a dedicated 'AGS' overdrive stomp switch, although a complaint I've heard is that it boosts the volume so it's not the kind of thing you want to kick on and off mid-song. He has both the TH and Sansamp i believe. It was him that put me on to the TH but after some research i decided to go for a BDDI at some point. I dont really want distortion, just a bit of tube warmth. At the moment im using a Behringer BDI21 9BDDI clone) and to be honest its doing a great job. Not bad for £22.
