Need help with individual string volumes.

I have noticed that my newly aquired bass tends to have a slightly quieter E string output then the rest of the strings. Does anyone know of anything that can be done to make it louder?

Uzzel it may be the case that the pickup height, is not even across the strings...Also if your E string has a very low action and your digging in the lack of space can choke the string/note thus not ringing..these are the only experiences ive had..others may know of other reasons..
