PauBass Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 (edited) I'm looking for a portable drum machine or trainer to use as a practice/study tool. I'm a bit lost, don't know much about them and don't want to spend a lot of money... Please, could you give me some advice, please? Thanks! Edited October 26, 2007 by PauBass Quote
BOD2 Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 You can't go far wrong with an Alesis SR16. They've been around for a long time now so you should be able to find one second hand. Good sounds and fairly easy to program. Quote
The Burpster Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 I have a Zoom MRT 3, and its a cinch to use and produces a useful range of drum sounds. Keeps time better than a Swiss watch and is WAY more reliable than a real drummer! Quote
Beedster Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 I've a Zoom multi FX unit I bought on the bay for £20 or so. Got a good basic drum machine and some great FX. Bass in, headphones out. Simple as! Chris Quote

You can perform highly sophisticated playing techniques with simple operations, such as changing effects and drum patterns together while playing, or re-playing different sampled sounds with each patch. Using Smart Media Cards (optional) Using a 32 MB Smart Media card as expansion memory, you can store up to 60 files for the sampler and 5 groups of patch memory. Using a Smart Media reader/writer with a USB interface, Smart Media card can also be used as an interface between the 708II and your PC. nick Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 You can't go wrong with Alesis SR-16, always loads on ebay. I would also recommend Zoom 2-3-4, for it's wide variety of sounds & ease of programming. My own favourite is Alesis HR-16, nice old school sounds. Very easy to programme as well. Quote
