Clarky Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 (edited) Just acquired this lovely 73 Jazz off eBay for a reasonable price. A near perfect match to my 72 Precision (see avatar). I am very excited! Weighs 10lbs and body in great nick for a 37 year old bass (nice bright sunburst with lots of red tones in it IMHO). I have secured a vintage 70s bridge to replace the ugly Schaller after-market jobbie and will be putting in Wizard 84 pickups in it (at least until I find a reasonably priced vintage 70s set of p/ups - the ones on eBay are close to £500 ) [attachment=40982:73_jazz_1.jpg] [attachment=40983:73_jazz_2.jpg] [attachment=40984:73_jazz_3.jpg] [attachment=40985:73_Jazz_4.jpg] Edited January 24, 2010 by Clarky Quote
aznbass Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Thats a nice Jazz bass. But the P bass looks stunning. Quote
Musicman20 Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Brilliant Clarky...two vintage Fenders now Whats next on the list? Quote

I have always wanted a vintage Precision and a vintage Jazz in the classic 3TS, and I have a good CIJ Fender 70 reissue Precision (oly white of course!) for playing the seedier venues. So that is everthing sorted. I tried a 5'er but couldn't really get on with the extra string and wider neck (and didn't need it in my band anyway). Maybe one day a Tony Franklin fretless??? Now I have to learn to play the bl**dy things! Quote

I had one when I was first starting out and never used the B, but the bass was a cheapish one, so it probably put me off. If I do go for one, its going to take some searching. Quote

Really nice Clarky. I`m glad that you seem to have found your holy grail. I am still looking for mine! Jez Quote

Are you turning into Water of Tyne? Now as for Tony Franklin, the other day I got a PM from a German basschatter offering me an extremely generous price (and so a very attractive profit) for my TF but I said 'NO!' Quote
thebuckets Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Nice one Clarky, even a relatively new BCer like myself has seen some gear come and go through your hands (all looked after of course) glad you got your matching set-Enjoy! Quote

I reckon I've got less than a week before she spots all my wheeling-and-dealing Quote
