Not seen many of these, I think they made more Jazzes. Nice looking grain and good starting price.

Looks quite tidy - don't know much about Grant.
Word is they were a range imported by loveable rogue Jimmy Grant, who ran a music shop up in Edinburgh in the '70s. I knew a guy who had a Grant EB-O; it sounded shid.

No-name P bass on Edinburgh Gumtree for 50 quid. Headstock looks a lot like some 70's Japanese P copies I've seen. It looks pretty good for the price...

Looks suspiciously like a scrap of bog-roll that's ripped off as the owner's polished it up for the photos. :)

Does anyone know anything about these and how much they are worth:

It's an Aria SB700. The SB series are very well regarded and came from a time when Matsumoku were at the top of their game, so I don't think you'll do badly in terms of playability (assuming nothing untoward has happened to it of course).

As for price, I haven't the foggiest I'm afraid. :)

I don't doubt that Noel could give you the low down if you give him a PM.

thats a fair price for what looks like a loveley example (in my opinion of course!) will only gain in value, though its worth checking it out because a through neck bass with problems is harder to fix. here's a link to a helpful site http://www.matsumoku.org/models/ariaproii/bass/sb/sb.html

I just love Aria Basses of this period!

You CANNOT go wrong! :)

If there are no issues, you will not regret it.

These things are WAY undervalued - buy it and you will see what I mean.

Cheers. :)

And it was found in the loft too. Who would have believed that? :)

From the description .... "and the main finger-plate is missing ( it actually looks better like this, but the screw holes for attaching the plate are visible - bit of filler and touch-up paint would sort this out)". I hate people who lie about "simple" little jobs like that in their descriptions. :)

"THERE AR A FEW BATLE MARKS AND AT SOMETIME BEFOR I HAD IT THE PIPPING ARUND THE HEAD......."
