The Triumph copy went for £185. Considering it needed work on the frets and ideally a bridge cover, that seems a bit steep.

Echoing what Jon said, those Italian Shaftesbury shortscale tele basses are pretty common. Picked one up myself last year in local rag for £25. :P
Really skinny necks...

I love(d) Hawkwind but I have no love for this bass.
That story is just too confusing. Has a cheap bass neck been grafted onto a guitar body that was once played very poorly in one song by Brock and he wants a grand for it?
The bit where the neck pocket snapped off (???) is a total bodge - new wood should of been added not sanded away.

Oh dear.

This is more like it, though, a Thunder 1A with very reasonable BIN:

No. Or if he did before, he's dropped to a tenth of that now.

I bet he wishes he put a reserve on it now, if he feels it's really worth a grand.
Ha ha 2 bids and 8 days to go.

I wonder if there are any Ian Kilmister basses from the Hawkwind era knocking about. Now they'd be worth a few bob. (not appropriate for this thread though)

I dunno, the one I had was a really good fretless. Someone on here still has it I think. I know there isn't one in the catalogs, but I was starting to wonder if this was a factory option rather than an aftermarket job.

Possibly - I'm just assuming it's a de-fret because of the lines, never seen a lined fretless Matsumoku as far as I can remember.

Good spot Oli - good price
Would be interested in that, if it didn't look something like an old bass I used to have which was the recipient off some peptic ulcer issues I had at the time. :)

I was bought a Kay P-bass for £30 new by my Dad when I first took up the bass.

It was the worst lump of wood to be palmed off as a 'musical' instrument ever to grace this planet.

I've still got it somewhere in the loft.

It was almost impossible to play, the neck was fat the action about a mile high, the frets were in the wrong places!

It's a wonder I ever continued to play......I couldn't wait to get a proper bass!!
