Could this have been something at some time? Doesn't say where it's from, but does it look vaguely Matsumoku era Hondo II? Or not?

That's a Cort, Korean-made from 1980-ish, would've been branded as Kay for the UK market. Nice project, only needs pups & pots really - shame he's not posting!

There's another, rather ambitiously overpriced example here:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=230484531702

Not sure how original that one is.

Nice basses if you get a good 'un - many have a high action due to a thin fretboard & chunky bridge, which can really only be sorted by recessing the bridge into the body.

I had one, sounded great but was hard work because of the string height.

A couple of interesting U-Boxes...

First a Greco Non-Reverse Thunderbird where the body appears to be the standard T-Bird flipped round rather than the traditional Gibson NR shape. Very odd!

Secondly something which looks much more recent, a Seen Bass. A sort og mutant offspring of an Ibanez (headstock), Rickenbacker (neck inlays) and a Smith (body). From what I can tell from the blurb, this is made by/for Matsushita (Panasonic?) Anyone know anymore about this?

WTF? I've never before seen a fretless with a fingerboard made of faeces.

Not ebay but cash converters - I was in the store on Dalry Rd in Edinburgh and they have an Ibanez Roadstar II bass in - a websearch tells me it is an RB760BK - looks to be in fair condition, quite a few dings but looks pretty good. The price was £119 - might be a good deal for someone (the wife will kill me if I buy it!)

I might pop in & have a look. Sounds like a good price, can't afford it myself, but I'd be interested to see if it turns out to be the same RD750BK I checked out for a BCer back in March. Not much difference between the 750 & 760!

Well I did take a note of the serial if it would ring bells! Serial starts J85 which I assume is 1985? My conclusion that it was a 760 was purely based on 5-minutes searching on the web and finding this page : http://www.ibanezwiki.com/

I quite like the look of it with the red edging but justifying it would be difficult really! If someone does buy it do post some pics

My tendency to trawl pawn shops has come up with some good instruments over the years but the only japcrap one so far was the Washburn Bantam headless that was for sale on BC a few weeks ago.

Not the same bass - the 750 I checked out started G84, making it July '84. The only immediate difference between the 750 & 760 is the number of frets (24 on the 760, 21 on the 750) and the pups look slightly different.

I'll definitely pop in the shop sometime this week - unless someone on here buys it first! :)

Aria The Cat, in a lovely red colour. This looks like it might be worth a punt.

This Yamaha SB 500 is worthy of an entry here for a couple of reasons: it certainly ain't crap, and it appears to be Ishibashi trying to move it on!

These are a very nice bass.
Anyone interested would be very pleased with it - and SO rare!
I have not seen one, other than mine for a long time - my wife thinks it's
one of the "prettier ones". Ahh, bless her.
Mine had a tone pot issue and the other pots were a bit naff (old age) so I went
to swap them for new ones and now .......................... buzzing and humming. :)
Not played it for ages but must get it sorted - may have to ask The Bass Doc where I have gone wrong!

I've just been watching this one count down to 0s with an itchy trigger finger in a semi-hypnotised state. No bids @starting bid of £120 + £20 p&p. It seems a bargain for a Fujigen made instrument. Is it not Fujigen made? Or do the mods make it unattractive to bidders?

This is post - Fujigen, made in Korea by Samick, I think. These appeared after the Antoria brand changed hands (as it has a few times) & are decent enough, by all accounts.

CMI bass. CMI in this case standing for Cleartone Musical Instruments, the USA based CMI not the UK (?) one.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CMI-Bass-Very-rare-a...=item1c139f7336

Claims to be Fujigen. I'm not even going to hazard a guess if that's correct for this instrument or not :)

Edit: Oh, it needs a setup but the "trust" rod is broken. How do you do a setup on an instrument with a broken truss rod?
