:) Remember it's all JapCrap, in the sense that US Fenders or Rickenbackers are YankW@nk and Wals & Status are BritSh!t...

Oooh - now THAT was a first. I just showed my wife that Tokai and said if that's how much they fetch then I'm thinking of selling mine, and she said "no, you can't, I like that one".

Do you think that means I'm ok to buy another? :)

Why stop at one? They're clearly an investment! :)

If this a Fender, then I am er ...not very observant.

Is it JapCrap?

99% sure it's JapCrap, 100% it's not a Fender!

Most likely a 70s JapCrap jazz neck bunged onto a P bod of uncertain origin - plus a decent set of tuners, either Schaller M4S or Grover Titans, pup might even be a Dimarzio or Schaller by the looks. Actually looks like the makings of a tidy project.

Bit too dear - and too distant - for a cheapskate like me, though. :)

Can't really speak for all of them, but I believe mine is the same as the 60's Fender it's based on.

Lusting for a PE200

I don't actually want one, but I haven't seen this thread in a while.

Although the pickups would probably be quite knackered(sp?) by now.

Same (Matsumoku) bass with a Shaftesbury badge - went for a song, the guy who bought it's a dealer who''ll probably just re-list at twice what he paid. :)

It's been a bit quiet on the JapCrap front lately. Maybe I've bought them all....

...Or a dealer who's been car bootin' & picking stuff up off Gumtree :) . He's got some not bad stuff, some definitely worth a watch, IMO. Too bad about his £10 markup on the postage though.

Really nice & playable bass - bit sad to have sold it, on reflection, but it didn't feel or sound right for the band - and they all have to justify their existence by being something I'd gig with.

Mine was a Grabber (single sliding pup, bolt-on neck) rather than a Ripper, which has a set neck & twin pups. I'd probably buy another if I got the chance!

I didn't know much about them, but I definitely like the flying-V headstock.
And it has to be Natural with black pg and h/s.
And foam!

That was perfect :)

Apparently the actual Gibsons aren't that great; very heavy with uncomfortable necks.

Have you got any pics of your collection, Nick? And where abouts are you in the sou-weh, if you're non-too secretive?

Hi Paul,
I'm based in Bristol/Bath area.

I've got some photos here (in bass section), however it needs updating with some recent additions of Ibanez Blazer, Aria Lazer & a Mazeti 330 Ricenfaker. Lost my camera USB lead! :)
