I'm the highest bidder on this at the moment but there's no way i'm going to be able to afford the final price on this so I might as well spill the beans and show you this beauty.......

Stripped-down Ibanez Musician.
Not entirely sure I like this finish but it might keep the price on the low side....

My first bass was one of those - a KB-24, made in Taiwan and very, very heavy.

Anyone care to venture an opinion about his oddity?

Looks a bit like a Westbury Track 2 body but not quite - rather clumsy around the neck pocket plus controls/scratch plate are a bit more Star Trek looking. And 26 frets?

If I had to guess, I'd assume that's home made. The chunky neck pocket and weird taper to the neck are exactly what you get when you work with limited tooling and no experience! I've never seen a factory neck shaped quite like that as it approaches the heel.

I think this sold on eBay last week - unless that wooden truss cover is from Aria and not a make-do

Just did a quick [url="https://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&tbo=d&biw=1440&bih=779&tbm=isch&sa=1&q=aria+pro+sb600+headstock&btnG=#hl=en&tbo=d&tbm=isch&sa=1&q=aria+pro+sb600+headstock&oq=aria+pro+sb600+headstock&gs_l=img.12...84665.84991.2.87215.3.3.0.0.0.0.75.210.3.3.0...0.0...1c.1.TiKdh4A8YtM&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.r_qf.&bvm=bv.41642243,d.d2k&fp=c31a5554bd61076c&biw=1440&bih=779"]Google image search[/url] and saw quite a few like this, handmade with one screw, so it seems to be a 'feature' of certain Aria basses.

Yes. Truss rod covers were originally wood ('79 walnut stain), being replaced by plastic circa 1980, although some of the higher end and the likes of the B&G range had metal.
