I used to own one and these are seriously nice basses - shame they weigh about 6 tons!

Rather nice price for a MIJ Ibanez, if anyones in West Lothian or doesn't mind driving a bit.

Roadstar - pretty sure it was a Roadstar II rather than a Roadster or I would've been after it. :)

If it wasn't for the butchered headstock, would have had this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ARIA-PRO-II-aria-pro-2-sb600-super-bass-600-vintage-80s-bass-guitar-MIJ-/230926568630?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item35c44bccb6

An SB400, not an SB600.

I think this is the bass I bought on ebay last week.

I'll post a pic when it arrives.

Yeah! My Roadstar arrived yesterday, it's a 1986 RB760GM, active P and J pickups finished in dark metalic green.

That's a Greco, most of which were manufactured by Matsumoku and FujiGen. Not a lot of "plywood" produced by either of those factories.

I have one of these. It was my first bass. If anyone ever sees one being sold at that kind of price again, grab it fast. It's well worth it. :)

I bought this. Haven't had a chance to do anything with it yet but it desperately needs a set up, strings & a good cleanup. Will let you know what happens (whether there's anything left in the truss rod... hope so, it's a bit of a banana!)

Posted (edited)

Mine needed a good clean and it's very scuffed, but the strings were fine and the neck and setup were perfect. It needs the jack resoldering now, but it seemed fine when I first got it. Depends on how the last owner treated it, I suppose. :P

One of the japcrap P's I own is like that. Is basicaly a 2 piece body with a cap on the top and bottom.

These things popped up under the Montclair and Ibanez brand names (and probably a few more). Most likely dates to the mid sixties as that's when the Hoshino factory stopped making guitars.

Hello Japcrappers!

Any ideas what this is? It's a friend's.

Sorry if one has been ID'd in the thread already, but it's a bit long to read through...

It could use a few more pointy edges I think - reminds me of a bc rich in a way

This would pre-date heavy metal as well

It's mostly influenced by the Burns (Black) Bison Basses from the early 60s.

I knew I'd seen a similar body shape before - I think it was an article in a guitar/bass magazine, I've never seen one in the flesh.

I've never seen this shape of headstock on an Ibanez Roadstar - is it a transitional model from Roadstar to Soundgear?
