I've never seen this shape of headstock on an Ibanez Roadstar - is it a transitional model from Roadstar to Soundgear?

http://www.ebay.co.u...=item1c31415729

Nah, there were loads like that in the mid-80s. There are as many shapes of roadstar as you can dream up.

I have some pretty crazy dreams - seriously I've been looking through the old online Ibanez catalogues and cant see this headstock shape anywhere.
The ebay seller doesn't know which model it is either unfortunately.

I'm very interested in this and will probably bid - I've been looking for something similar for a while. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330924342226?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Does anyone know what is going on with the strange extra pickup?

Worth a punt if you're near Bexleyheath

Maybe it's my old eyes but, in photo 1, are the strings and the neck running parrallel? Track the E string along the neck, with reference to the neck edge.

Going by the third photo, not only does the E string get to the edge of the fretboard but also the G string seems to be closer to the edge than advisable. Could it be a replacement bridge with too-wide string spacing? One BBOT looks much the same as another.

I'd still give it a spin for £80 if it was nearer to me.

Definitely not crap - could be an absolute bargain. Anyone here fancy it?

I'm watching it, but only out of idle curiosity to see where it ends up.

Also in my watch list is this little beauty:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300906501228?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

Again, I've no intention of bidding, just curious to see how close the seller gets to their ludicrously inflated (IMO) BIN price.

Aren't the reissues in that price range though?
Not saying I'd pay that amount for this but I can almost see the sellers logic.
They are indeed, & I get where he's coming from too. However that approach seems to have skewed the market somewhat as sellers are now asking very high prices but rarely, if ever, getting them. I can't see any SB being worth four figures unless it's got celebrity provenance (& even that market is arguably restricted to Burton, Taylor & maybe Sarzo).

I vaguely recall being told that the re-sale value of a new Les Paul was 50% of retail once it left the shop. I daresay that's a fairly good yardstick for any mass-produced instrument.

This guy's got the right idea:—

http://www.ebay.co.u...=item1c32e7f7fb

It'll be interesting to see where that lands.

This one http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3382464431 is, I reckon, at the true top end of the pricing/value of these. Although with it being a fretless, the market is further reduced, so it too is probably a bit on the high side.

I noticed the other day that there had been a number of massive old Aria bargains recently. I guess that if you're in the market for one now is the time to buy.

Which begs the question 'Why are these still for sale?'

£225 for an SB-600? That's a bargain & £325 for a fretless 700 is better than very reasonable, yet they've been up since November 2011!
Daft, I call it.

Well, the Pro II RSB Special and the Tempo Les Paul bass both fetched around £200, so maybe the market is picking up? I'd have valued them both around £150 in the current climate.

I'd agree with you, but that said 200 sovs for an RSB Special isn't outrageous - it's still a lot of bass for the money. This RSB Straycat looks a bit of alright - it'll be interesting to see what it does.

In other news…

The SB-1000 with a BIN of £1350 got bids up to £530 - but that was still below the seller's reserve. Now there's a surprise… not.

The 'Cliff Burton Fretless' got pulled "because there was an error in the listing" whatever that means. Couldn't see anything wrong in the listing apart from the spurious CB claim… and it's since been relisted.

& the Korean SB-1000CB topped out at £451 from a £350 start.

Starting price is nice, but depends what reserve the seller's put on it. Shame about the knob though.
