Annoying Twit
This is an interesting looking instrument. I certainly don't feel tempted to buy it as due to its age, it's not from the classic Japanese instruments era (I would guess) and there appear to be structural problems. But it's the kind of thing that interesting to see. Annoying Twit
This claims to be a Japanese p-bass. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item1c36797987 "For parts or not working", but £70 + p&p. No name on headstock, but it might be an Ibanez it says. Or of course, it might not be. Edited September 8, 2013 by Annoying Twit
Annoying Twit
Cheap Westone Thunder 1. However, it 'has no frets' and some 'cosmetic damage'. So, this may not be a bargain despite the cheap price. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Westone-Thunder-I-Bass-Guitar-including-Gig-Bag-Kit-/171125754274?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item27d7e3c9a2

Annoying Twit
WARNING: NOT A BASS!!!! But surely £150 for a MIJ N-Series Squier strat wtih a case. Isn't this a bargain for someone? Annoying Twit
The headstock looks odd. I don't know what age of Antoria that came from, but I searched on Antoria basses, and couldn't find anything with a headstock that looks like that. The ebay listing says it's an 'Ibanez', but is it really? (As an aside, the modern Antoria brand owner has an IMHO quite nice website but the instruments look to be the same copies that a lot of brands sell). Then i came across this topic which I think is the right place to put a link with pics in. Musky
My guess is that it's a Matsumoku made bass. The three piece quarter sawn neck was a characteristic of Mat instruments, and it's very similar to the Aria 1540 which was made by Mat. The thing that's throwing me off is the neckplate - Matsumoku usually put 'Steel Reinforced Neck' or 'Steel Adjustable Neck' on their early 70's basses, though perhaps someone will know if they used Made in Japan stamps at any point? Noelk27 on these boards is well up on old Arias. Realistically though, you'll never know the brand of this bass without the name on the headstock. Many factories produced identical instruments and badged them up with whatever name the importer requested, which means the closest you'll get is an ID on the manufacturer. Fantastic condition bass for it's age though.

Bassassin
Hi Yesterday i started new topic ' Made in Japan' badged jazz bass copy in order to identify a jazz bass copy I bought recently from a pawnshop. Apart from the 3-piece neck it's completely identical to the Columbus-brand J copies from the mid-70s (I've had several!) so I'd be inclined to think it came from the same factory as those. Regarding that neck, many of the "good" Japanese factories used this method, including Kasuga & Fujigen. Anecdotally bodies & necks often came from different manufacturers so I'd be inclined to think that might be the case with this one. To the OP - unfortunately "Made in Japan copy" is as accurate as it's possible to be with many unbranded basses - pretty much all of the brand names from that era were importer/exporter names & nothing to do with the factories that made them, so unless it's possible to work out which specific factory made the instrument, the best you can say is "70s MIJ Jazz copy".
