Nice example but IMO a bit overpriced, £150-£175's probably fair enough for one o' them.

Yeah, I did wonder.

My first ever bass was a black Deluxe CSB that cost me £75 in 1988

This is reasonably priced IMHO. They occasionally go for less than this, but the fretless Thunders have been selling well recently.

So I just don't know. Is this ad the biggest collection of cynical bullsh!t ever put together in a single statement, or is the seller genuinely a pitifully deluded & ripped-off tragedeian who actually believes this spiel?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261424997235

The bass is a low-end Korean-made through-neck P copy from about 1980, commonly sold in the UK as a Satellite model 91. I'd like to give the seller the benefit of the doubt, but the fact you can see where a logo's been scraped off the headstock, and use of phrases such as "the Ibanez factory" tends to turn my cynicism dial up to 11.

MIJ Aria here for £70:
http://www.gumtree.c...3#photo-content

A Cardinal or something? Not clued up on these, obviously the paint job and the chopped off headstock devalue it but still cheap for parts or restoration.

I don't know what it looks like in real life, but from the picture I like the custom paint job. Pity about the headstock though.

I'm guessing that this is an early Korean made AP2. Is it?

http://www.ebay.co.u...=item417e244e6e

The more recent Arias with the slightly old-style headstock like the SB40 seem to have a thinner headstock (left to right), while this looks more like a Japanese era headstock. But, it looks too new to me to be Japanese.

I have just been looking at that and wondering if it was MIJ or Korean.

The old Integras had that headstock but they also brought it back for some early 90s ones, not sure if they've used it again more recently. Some late 80s Integras had the chubby headstock (Billy Gould style) then they went for the slimmed down stubby version for the 90s Korean and modern Chinese ones. The top horn also got a bit longer and sleeker over the years too.

I'd be up for bidding on an 80s MIJ Integra but I struggle keeping track of what to look for, they all seem to have different features! Aria seemingly also produced some oddballs and tiny production runs, check out the blogspot for a really rare natural through neck Korean Integra:

Jap not-so-crap? A nice pointy headstock 80s Aria Pro

Could go cheap. Any good? I imagine so, though not for me.

Not Jap, might or might not be crap - but definitely not the 1981 Matsumoku he'd like to think. Late 80s onward Korean Pointyhead.

Apparently a 70's Aria pro for £65 ovno
I don't know much about these but surely this is a bargain?

Definitely not 70s, more 90s, but still cheap at the price.

Possibly an IGB-550.

Everything about this screams that it isn't Matsumoku at all.

And you are quite correct. To me it screams "I'm Korean, I'm plywood and I'm from the early 80s!"

Never seen an MIJ Columbus that looked remotely like a Matsumoku product. But I'm starting to think that in EbayLand "Matsumoku" has replaced "The Ibanez Factory" as the origin of anything remotely old & oriental.

And this modern day ESP LTD bass is 'from the golden Fujigen era'.

http://www.ebay.co.u...=item4ad2ab7aa8

According to this chart: http://www.music-trade.co.jp/etc.html ESP never had Fujigen make basses for them.

Edit: Made in Indonesia.
