That aria is really nice looking.
Also a guy on the EBMM forum had one of those yamahas refinished, looked really nice.

Love the look of those Yamahas - been after one myself for a while
Not convinced that's one of the Czech ones ... the Futuramas were sourced from all over the place, including Hagstrom, and that looks like a Swedish one to me. If it IS a Hagstrom (note the presence of the word "if") then it's a steal at £99.
It is a Hagstrom based Futurama. The main reason I say so is the shadow of a "Kings neck" sticker on the back of the headstock.

What a mess though. If anyone here does decide to go for it I have some spares (will have machine heads for sure, possibly some other bits and bobs). PM me if you want to discuss.

Good spot - I missed that.

Yes it's a Hagstrom Futurama.

I had one exactly like that that - except mine was in pristine condition in 1982. It was my spare bass (to my Burns Sonic), so I sold it when I joined an all synth band. Hope that isn't what it's become...
What's the attraction with those? I had a Westone flying v and it was nothing special at all. And is it West-One or Wes-Tone?
The Westone brand seems to have been resurrected, and by the sound of things the V you had was probably one of these. The Westones every one rate were made in Japan by Matsumoku until 1987 - I don't think they ever produced a flying V.

Good grief! Some JapCrap:

Starting with an Avon Jazz copy:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=130218260418
And what's in a name? This one's already sold - but was surprisingly similar to the one above - which is unlikely to fetch £219:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1970s-Maya-JAZZ-BASS...emZ160228751447

Some stuff you can buy now...

A Westy Thunder II - which I suspect is not going anywhere at that price:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=150242229400

And neither is this Washboard Stage B20:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=160234828713
I had one of them when I were a lad. Wish I still did... :)

A Westone Quantum headless, with its own little coffin:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=160235907159
Doubt it'll stay nice & cheap for long.

Unspecified JapCrap P with an iffy refin & odd little pickup:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=260231704672
Quite tempted by this. For no good reason!

How do you work out the value of an instrument?

I was looking at those Arias and Grecos from Tokyo (one P went for about £117 +importing fees etc.). I figured that I was probably basing my perceived value on the basses he had previously sold and currently had up for sale (BIN).

Is this up?

Wowsers trousers, that Ibanez is lovely! Glad I decided to have a look in here, stops me looking at the TV while my girlfriend watches Embarrassing Illnesses :)

If there's a crop, that would be the cream.

Something tells me Jon shoveled us the fuglers and kept that one to himself  .

Nice - but not for me. A bit too clean & shiny! :)

Seriously, noticed it at the weekend & forgot about it - didn't put it in my watched stack.

I'll be back a little later with a fresh stack of things of beauty - just for you Paul!

I've got one of those, bought it off Happy Mondays bass player many years ago. It's a Roadstar RB920 model. You don't see many about.
Beautiful bass - definitely recommended. Lovely to play, variety of sounds from the 'tri-sound' switch...

If I had to reduce my collection down to one, this the one that would stay.

It ticks a few boxes for me. 1) Ibanez 2) square edged body and 3) very local (no postage).

I absolutely love the thin, fast neck on my SRX300. Nick - would you say the neck on this one is similar? (it looks a little fat in these pics)

I just noticed all the questions on it now, looks like it's attracting a fair bit of attention. :)

Not familiar with an SRX300, but neck on the RB920 is fast, bit Jazz Bass-like. Perhaps little too much sometimes for me!
Maybe that's why I use a P-Bass mostly these days.
However, whoever buys this bass will not be disappointed (IMO)

Just wish I could justify having two of them!

That Roadstar's still nice & cheap & not too long to go, but lately Ebay's had a tendency towards last-second madness, so it could get silly. I think this pre-dates the skinny necks Ibanez became known for with the Soundgears & SRXs, I've not played one myself, but I have a Roadster RS924 & that's somewhere between a P & a J - which suits my huge hands. :)

Anyway, as promised, a few more munters for Paul's disdain:

A couple of Aria TSBs:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=170215362091

The challenged literacy of the second one might help keep it low...

A Aria Laser Heritage with crap all over it:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=320247226970

A Washburn Force 8:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=280222281111

And this odd 60s thing - don't know exactly what it is but it's kinda cool - apart from the inappropriate pickups!
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=160236266908

Thanks for your replies guys.

I've got v big hands too but I prefer skinny necked basses for some reason - bigger than J feels weird. On the other hand my 6 string acoustic is a 12 with only 6 strings fitted because normal necks feel too small. Weird.

I was laughing until I saw the Washburn, then I went "ooh." I like the tele headstock and the interesting body.

Not enough to buy it, obviously :) . Is there any other P basses (tail pg style) with a tele headstock?

Hidden away in the Bass Amplifier Section. :)

Not entirely hidden - it's listed in the bass guitars section as well.

Me neither, but love the look & design.
Well overpriced though (methinks) :)
