Seller is (probably self-)deluded. I love Rails, but really... ;)

I think this Ibanez Silver Cadet must be Japanese-made. I've not run across one before:

Somehow that looks a bit Cimarish to me.

Agreed. Looks like the "Cimar By Ibanez" branded stuff (this sort of thing) that was around in the early 80s. I doubt it's MIJ.

Never heard of basses with this branding, but apparently they were made at Kawai. I wouldn't know.

Sadly, the thing has a deeply naff name...

I have, and they were. :)

Interesting, I thought "Rockoon" was a Japan-market exclusive brand. Seeing a "Schaller Rockoon" listed in Germany sheds a bit of light on the origin of an obvious MIJ Rick copy I came across, branded as Schaller. Presumably it's likely to be a Kawai.

A Rockoonbacker, perhaps.

Westone Thunder 1A in Cash Converters on Leith Walk for £89. Finish has playing wear but seems complete and the neck was in good shape. Had to fight the urge!

If it's good it could sell for double that.

Easy £150 whatever the cosmetic condition.

Must not buy-to-flip... :D

Yes, it can go seriously wrong.... You might actually like it! Then you won't be able to sell and THEN where would you be?!! :o

Entirely unsurprised!

It's an old Kay.

I had a couple of these and they were pretty good.

Some suffer with action issues as the bridge saddles bottom out before you get fret buzz
but neither of mine had any problems.

Sold them for a lot more than shown.

At £45.00, you can't go wrong.

Cheers. :)

Silly, silly bargain. Like Eric says, these can be variable but good ones are very good.

Early 80s, made in Korea by Cort, some lovely details like the triple dot brass inlays. You often see these being fobbed off on Ebay as Matsumoku builds, priced £200+.

Someone needs to buy this, if only to stop that happening!

There's defretted Westone Concord on eBay £90 BIN and pickup in Woolwich.

http://www.ebay.co.u...%3D331667450889

Has a couple of strange markings, 6 screw holes on the back like it's been fixed to display rails ? and what looks like an obscured serial on the headstock.
My Concord has the serial on a plain neck plate saying MIJ and Matsu whereas this has a fancy Westone plate.

Nice enough looking bit of kit.

I think £90 for a defretted concord is a bit high actually. If it still had the frets and was in better condition, yes.

Here is a nice looking Aria P2 SB1000, though the description suggests that the condition isn't quite what the photos suggest. The owner is selling it to fund a ukulele. It's a bit light on pics of the rear buckle rash - but from what you can see it's nothing compared to the back of the SB-R Elite I picked up last year! The wear's in the exact same place, though.

Have Westone Thunders suddenly gone through the roof?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Westone-Matsumoku-Thunder-I-A-Bass-with-Free-case-bundle-/201437603290?hash=item2ee69de5da

£315 including a case, that he admits isn't up to much.

They've gone up a bit. Here's one that went for £180, which would have been very surprising a few years ago. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item4aefacf93b

But look at this: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2ca05c6739 Moral=if your bass has missing strings, replace them before selling! (maybe).

There are some other ones that sold at a good price. The lower priced ones all seem to have something value-reducing about them. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item4d350d390c

EDIT: I previously said that I hadn't seen one go for under £100 for a while. Clearly I hadn't looked well enough. Most of the sub £100 ones were (e.g.) 'For parts or not working', but a few seemed to be just showing their age a bit.
