Looks like the median is still around the £150 mark, which it seems to have been for ever. Some go for a bit more, some for a bit less and a few proper bargains creep through from time to time.

I don't think the daft sods asking £300-odd ever get lucky.

They only have to get lucky once though, whereas the poor buyer has to evade those for ever.

Another seller just making stuff up to try & punt a decent but unremarkable bass - it's a generic mid-80s Matsumoku through-neck, very closely related to later Westones.

The suggestion that it was "designed in the 1970s – 80s era by Matsumoku as their top of the range bass" is completely ridiculous, and he plainly couldn't even be arsed to research the serial number. Or in fact read the name of the bloody thing off the TRC. It's an X99B.

It's nice but about £200 overpriced. As I'm sure he'll find out.

Call me weird, but I like the Westy Raider better.

That looks a bit more like early Alembic neck throughs. Is it Matsumoku? It doesn't look it. I'm wondering if it's a bit more pizza than it is sushi.

The headstock looks convincing. I like it, but then I'm easily pleased.

Shame about the "upgrade" to the pups.

I'm sure Bassassin's already commented on this and his verdict is that it is most likely Italian.

Not "most likely", it undoubtedly is. And it's been significantly modified/customised to be that shape.

Anyway, this worthy gentleman has been trying to shift this bass for a good few weeks now - he knows exactly what it is but still chooses to tread the Path Of Bullshit. There's a thread about it, with all the necessary links here.

This is its 3rd or 4th re-list since he picked it up last month (for £205), with the price gradually creeping down. It has a bid now, currently at £255 so after fees, he might make £20 off it unless a bidding war ensues.

It is pretty cool, but the fact it's so modified does put me off somewhat. I remember seeing original Camacs come up on and off and liking the fact they were Eko BXes on steroids, so IMO it is a bit of a shame someone's chopped this around a bit.

Lovely slice of pizza, that. :)

Tidy-looking Antoria Precision, looks like the more accurate late 70s version & appears to be wearing an original BadAss bridge.

So, anyone here get smart & blag this for an utterly ludicrous £68? I sincerely hope so - but bet you didn't.

That would be me.

The guy isn't responding to messages about picking up so I won't be celebrating just yet.

Fingers crossed we can get this done without any silliness, wanted a Fuji gen bass for ages.

Excellent - really hope it goes through.

I genuinely don't think the guy has any idea of the interest in these instruments. I messaged him (before I posted it here!) to see if he'd be willing to post. He wasn't, but said he'd consider it if the bass didn't sell first time. I got the feeling he thought it was just a tatty old piece of junk, & would be happy to get £50 for it.

PHEW! Got it!

first impressions - gorgeous neck, truss rod moves. Poorly installed original badass and brass nut - neck pocket has been shimmed, presumably to account for the non-routed badass. Body looks like it's done 10 rounds with Mike Tyson but people pay a lot of money for that these days apparently. E77***** serial, so May 1977 (i think).

so, chuffed as anything with 68 quid outlay. Will need 20-30 quid spent on it to get it right, but hopefully i can raise that from flogging the badass - never did like them.

Congratulations.

Your Antoria cost less than 10% of what this Ibanez Blazer is selling for. http://www.ebay.co.u...jYAAOSwT5tWLjE6

EDIT: This 1989 Ibby really needs black tape wound strings. It just isn't black enough. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ibanez-SR1000E-Bass-Built-in-1989-at-famous-Fujigen-factory-Japan-/151863365338?hash=item235bc30eda:g:5UoAAOSwo6lWLmSa

The Kimbara's back for 150 quid, surprised nobody bought it last time it was up especially when he dropped it to 100 quid:
