Cimar by, well, Cimar, whoever the hell they were. At this point there was no "official" connection between the 2 brands except Hoshino was somehow involved in distribution.

These weren't made by Fujigen & having had the exact same bass as this (apart from the white rattle can + power-sander "relic" job), they are low-end plywood mid 70s JapCrap, with nothing much to their credit beyond the fact of still being in one piece after 35 years of abuse.

Nice to meet you too!

There's an Introductions forum that far more people look at. This little corner of Basschat is just frequented by those of us with a strange penchant for japcrap basses. Though you're welcome to join in.

We are the weirdos with a taste for familiarly shaped plywood!

We should form a cult.

I've played a CSL Jazz on a few occasions. Looked like a heap of s**t, but played really nicely. Sounded ace too -- really lively.

Still had its frets, though. :)

I'm fairly sure the neck & body of this bass don't belong together but it's interesting all the same. Shame about the defret, these are lovely necks - my no.1 Jazz is a somewhat modified 1980 CSL with the same neck:

For the new-to-JapCrap I'll point out that this wasn't made at the Ibanez Factory because it doesn't exist, as Ibanez is just a brand name. However it was made at Fujigen Gakki, the same factory as most 70s & 80s Ibbys - and subsequently MIJ Fenders, so there is a connection. The headstock shape here is the same as the older Ibby Blazers - although you won't find any of them with black blocks...

That's lovely - certainly wouldn't hurt to stick a bid in. Then again, how much do these usually sell for? The BIN doesn't seem excessive to me for something in that condition.

They very rarely come up, this particular model, in fact this is only the second one I've seen on eBay in the last few years and I bought the other one!

The BIN on this one is more than I paid for mine in similar condition - but who knows? I guess they are worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. Great instruments though, beautifully made.

Very bargainacious uber-80s black/red Ibanez Roadstar II, £125 BIN:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/IBANEZ-ROADSTAR-2-RB...emZ250444544383

Looks like it needs a little bit of tidying, another one I'd have no hesitation in grabbing myself at a different time.

Polite request though for anyone who goes for this - please don't offer to flog it to me for £100 more than you bought it for, m'kay? :)
