might even be tempted myself if I hadn't just bought this off the lovely Mr Tino for £25!

Don't know if he knows yet.... :)

Of course he knows the "Maya29" was all the evidence required in solving the mystery,I love the way you got Mrs BA to pay the the bill.
The relicing is free gratis....Fender Custom shop would have wanted paying for the distressing

How do you do it????
:) If only I could persuade my better half to pay for my Ebay shenanigans! Anyway I'm genuinely really surprised it didn't get any other bids.

Never fear though, I don't intend to profiteer on this one - I have a maple/blocks JapCrap neck I've had for literally years which should slot straight in. Not sure how severe this "distressing" is likely to be, but I'm sorely tempted to turn the bass into an unofficial Dennis Dunaway signature model anyway:

:D

Its not so much bad as amatuer....sandpaper gouging of the extreme variety......it could be enhanced with the use of a pickaxe and lighter fluid...
Its a good solid body no issues otherwise and none of the papering has affected the contours etc....pots possibly may need looking at....sort of tested the pups as in ad there was noise....chances are they are good to go..
Send me pics once reborn :)

Nicely packaged and will be sent tommorrow morning courtesy of MrsT

At least he picked a year when the 300 was actually in production. There was a "Matsumoku" SB1200 listed recently - which would have been good going as the 1200 wasn't in production until '89, only two years after the Matsumoku factory closed.
Here's an interesting looking one. Indeed interesting, although I've gone off him already for the gratuitous use of TEISCO, which it almost certainly isn't!

BTW if anyone does happen to have a Teisco Gold Foil pickup that they want to find a home for, please get in touch.

Not 100% sure but I think that's been through before - I remember very much liking the checker-bound fretboard & then being a bit put off by some of the structural issues. Which is exactly what I think now.

Don't think it's a Teisco, mostly due to the lack of it saying "Teisco" anywhere.

You know what - you're dead right there. My first bass was identical to this, apart from having two pickups & "Grant" on the headstock. Bought new in 1978, so bollocks to this being from 1969.

I'm the first person to try & find merit in even the worst JapCrap - but this was pure, unmitigated & unrelenting sh!te. In a perfect world it would have completely put me off playing bass or any other instrument, and my life would undoubtedly have been much more simple, straightforward, stable and fulfilled as a result.

Haha I'm obviously rubbish at japcrap Jon. Everything I point out seems to be on your sh*t-list. :)
I like the lines of that Top Twenty and even if it was was a bad'un it wouldn't stay that way for long after I gave it a going over.... I wouldn't shell out £120 on it though, my mind's eye figure is still in the market we had a couple of years ago. :)

He's not sure what this is, only that it's Matsumoku. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if that turned out to be false.

There's another one on there but I'm keeping it a bit secret cos there's no reserve and it's still cheap! (Although with 4 days to go....)

That looks sweet. I was considering to place a bid, but I'm not sure as to its authenticity or if it's supposed to be decent. Can any of the resident experts pitch in?

Even if it ever was a "Morris" the fakey refin, cheap stickers & crap new Chinese parts utterly destroy any collectability (and associated value, if any) it might have had.

The fact the useless, ham-fisted idiot was too lazy to even re-align the bridge would strongly suggest to me that the rest of the "work" will be a similar cack-handed, half-arsed bodge - which he actually gives away in his description, if you read it & think about what he's saying!

Upon closer inspection it seems clear you are (as always) right on the money. It's gone too, so we'll never know how much it'd reach.
