Oxford Techs

Hi everyone,

Following some bass acquisitions and general gear-getting-on-a-bit problems, I'm looking for a tech in Oxford who does a mean bass setup - don't know if anyone has any recommendations? I remember trying the Guitar Gallery a while ago but their workshop had a several-months long waiting list....

Anyway, any good experiences let me know!

Thanks for that Jack, I'd already taken a look at the list - but as you say there's none actually in Oxford.
As I don't have a car, and have 3 basses that need looking at, I can't really get very far with them; so someone in Oxford would be rather useful!

What kind of work do you need doing? Is it just action, intonation and neck relief or do they need some nut/fretwork too?

There's got to be a few members in Oxford who would at least look at them for you.
What are the specific issues?
I'm playing the Port Mahon on Feb 4 and the Wheatsheaf on the 5th. If you were to bring one along, I'd happily take a look for you.

Yeah, it's nothing major - I'm just putting different gauge strings on and have never had any success when I've tried to fiddle with action etc. myself in the past!

Just dropped by The Music Box (a dive of a place, I know; but it is right next door to me...) and the guy seemed pretty keen on taking a look. So I'll see what the results are like when he's done!

Good luck with that then. The guys at PMT can get tech work done: not cheap & they send it away. I had an acoustic guitar refretted quite a long time ago by them, but TBH I'm not impressed by the job their tech did. Now I'd probably try to do it myself.

I recently had some minor electronics 'tidying up' done by the Oxford Guitar Gallery - they were superb, took the bass in a day before and i had it back within a couple of days. They booked me in about two weeks in advance.
