He started this thread with humourous intentions, but the fall-out from the others hadn't really settled, so this one was doomed to controversy from the outset. Basically, some people don't like certain postings - and I'm thinking particularly of the earlier -I.L.F threads. Objectors may be motivated by issues of personal credential, by aesthetic distaste or by concerns about exclusion. Either way, such threads are a divisive, hot-button topic and often lead to bad feeling and conflict. For that reason alone, the Mods often shut them down. They enforce the rules we all sign up to when we join. Members might counter that this is all in good fun and that one shouldn't be so sensitive. Nevertheless the mods have posted that some female members don't enjoy the presence of such topics. I'm aware of no reason to disbelieve them. We're a community; as in real life, that involves respecting the feelings of others, even if it means we have to forgo certain pleasures. So why upset another member simply to assuage one's own preferences? It's just good manners. To what end? To get their own way at the expense of other members? The 'right' to post a few images? So they can shout "No - I'm Spartacus!" IMO, the marginal benefit of such threads to a minority is less important than the detrimental effect on the whole. It's a numbers game and they're on the losing end of it. waynepunkdude
Personally I see Off Topic as a group of friend in a family pub because it is open to all ages, now a bit of football, advice, politics (friendly) or miscellaneous chat is all good but if you were in a pub with your family and friends and someone turned around and said "you know who I'd like to f*** ?" it would be deemed unacceptable,. blamelouis
As the starter of the original MILF and FILF threads i'd like to say they were done as a bit of fun. They were copied from another site that i use regarding James Joyce where they were popular as a bit of harmless craic. I did say in the original post that people should stay within site rules because i didnt want them to be seen as threads were people could have a go or grind an axe. Sadly thats what the MILF one became with posters like "PETE ACADEMY" taking negative feedback and fallout on threads like this ,apoligies to pete. If any women were offended then i'm sorry that was not the intention , if any blokes were offended then tough. My wife is finding the uproar hilarious as it was her that suggested Sting as a FILF. I apologise to the mods if this has created undue hassle for them i know how hard the job of mod is which is why i didnt run to them with p.m's whineing about "my threads being locked" You do a good job and dont need this crap ...sorry . Modding decisions are made jointly by the mods when it comes to closing threads, except in the case where it's a clear cut porno issue for example, then a mod will normally close and delete the thread immediately. peteb
What?? So I'm likely to get kicked out of 2 bands I play in because I don't make comments to the female singers about the size of their t**ts, because that's what a proper musician does?? Next time I get a session playing for a female artsist I'll remember that because I'm a musician I must get a Bernard Manning joke book out and be sure to tell a few. Glad I'm not "most musicians" mate, otherwise I might as well go back to scaffolding.......where no one cared if you didn't read the sun actually. As for the site not having good debate, what this.....?? Personally, I like this site, it's a good community and pretty well managed. There are plenty of other sites that sell gear, and plenty of forums that offer technical advice pertaining to specific manufacturers.... Anyway rant and brain fart over...but I just hate being told that I have to conform.....
WTF - the point that I was trying to make is that most musicians tend not to be sensitive little flowers or easily offended - not that you have to turn into Bernard Manning to be in a band! Strangely enough this does not seem to be an issue with the female singer in one of my bands and any risque humour is just as likely to come from her as anyone other band member..... The point is if you want to talk about sex, you can do it without sounding like On The f***ing Buses. Circulating titillating pictures of women with decent cleavage on a bass forum without a sense of irony is about as 14 years old in the 1970s as I can think of. It's also interesting to note that those who say their MILF, FILF, BILF, etc. threads display a great sense of humour appear to lose that sense of humour at the first sign of criticism. To be perfectly honest, you and BlameLouis come across like you grew up in a Catholic Convent.
