my zoom b2.u pedal died on me the other day after very little use the up switch stopped working. So i did the normal male thing in a vein hope of something blatent wrong with it and started taking it to bits.

I noticed the switch wasnt touching the pad bit very well, so i slid a peice of card in between and it worked.

So that leads me to ask what are your best and most inventive gear fixes?

I changed a fuse once in a Peavey combo. it's inside and you have to take the amp out. so it looks quite impressive and to the odd observer it looks like you know what you are doing. i thought the metal strips on top of the combo were for extra handles untill i found out they were holding the electrics in place. :)

Back in the day, me and my Dad used those metal strips as mountings for attaching extra handles to my old Peavey combo. Oops.
It did make it easier to carry though..

When I was fooling around with my Yamaha BB414 recently, I found that the pickup selector switch didn´t let me solo the neck pickup.

I opened the electrics compartment and found that one of the two plastic clamps that hold the top and bottom parts of the switch together had broken - no contact in the neck position. Got a piece of coated wire and strung the damn thing together again - works perfectly. Not a very elegant solution but certainly more solid than the original design. :)

I "repaired" an electro-acoustic by adding a bit of folded card behind the battery so it stopped it from moving in the compartment and cutting out the signal.

I also "repaired" an active bass with no output by putting a battery into the empty compartment.
