urb
Here's one I made earlier - the lines on the neck of my bass aren't really that visible - and I only occasionally look at them - it's more about listening to the music you are playing (guitar/piano chords) and hearing whether you are in tune or not - simple as - though I don't always achive that either!!! xilddx
I'm using an unlined Precision now but when I had a lined Jazz I noticed this same thing - Gary Willis refers to it on his website too. There have been a couple of threads on BC where I asked if anyone could explain why this was the case but no one seemed to have an answer and others denied that it was so.
I would suggest it's where your head is positioned and your perceived finger placement is the result of optical perspective. I couldn't care less what Gary Willis says but if he hasn't thought of this then I suspect he doesn't put shelves up level either.
Jerry_B
Hmm, I wouldn't say it an optical illusion, as such. But then again as I play an unlined for quite a while perhaps my brain has just gotten used to seeing things 'differently' as taking it as normal. Honestly it looks like Escher did it. Arsehole.
Jerry_B
You should see what he did to our patio - or 'the cellar', as we now call it.
