Musky
There was a pedal by a small British manufacturer that claimed to do this, but I can't think of it's name just now!
El_JimBob
I think the pedal was called a 'Bass Maker' - we had one in the store i work at for years - great pedal, but no-one was ever interested.... If you're interested, ill dig around and see if i have any of the original info....

Musky
Well, google reveals it was the Able Bassmaker and was made in Wales. http://filters.muziq.be/model/able/bassmaker

Timface
mm intresting.... any1 had any experience with these pedals? Tim
stevebasshead
Not much help to your original question but the White Stripes "7 Nation Army" was apparently a guitar through an octaver and most people hear that song and assume it's a bass. There's bound to be info on what was used somewhere on the 'net.
Buskoe Sike
Hey I was thinking... Tim
Just saw your question and yes indeed the pedal to have is the Able Bassmaker. I have been using this for hundreds of gigs now and it is fundamental to our sound now. The Bassmaker reproduces ONLY the lowest note that you are playing as a bass guitar sound, be it single note playing or chords. It does this very cleanly with absolutely no cross-over into the direct guitar output. With practice you can sound like two completely separate instruments. I have tried to do this with the Electro Harmonix Pedal but it just can't handle it. Unfortunately, I can no longer find any trace of the guy who made these in Wales and am down to my last spare. Musky
Blimey, it looks like you might have just missed the boat there Mike. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ABLE-BASSMAKER-PEDAL...emZ220187785305 It seems to me that £33 was probably a complete bargain for the buyer, though I suspect that he actually paid more for it. Shame the picture of the literature isn't legible. *Edit to add the picture before it disappears into the ether.
