He designed and made his own pick-up's which had 9(?) pole pieces. John also modified guitars and basses by adding his pick-up's and wiring. So the term "Birched" refers to the EBO having a Birch pick-up added at the bridge with the additional wiring. Slade used John Birch guitars or check out Dai Shell's John Birch SG on Sassafras YouTube vids. Is that a Magnum or Hyperflux that's been added to yours? If you don't mind me asking. I met John a few times when he built my custom EB3, mad as a box of frogs, but a bit of a rogue too by all accounts. Quote

I've got a matched pair of John Birch Magnums in my bass. 1 Quote
msb Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 I love this little DC Jr ! I was going to change the bridge , but haven’t gotten around to it. I was able to quickly set the three point exactly where I wanted things , but I do like the look of the Hipshot drop in replacement. I thought the Jr might fit in my SG case , but it does not. 4 Quote

I have never had a problem with any bass with the 3-point bridge. All were pretty quick and easy to setup, and I think it looks nicer than the Fender style BBOT. I never really got why so many people seem to hate it. As long as you just slacken the strings off to remove the bridge before changing strings, it's all good. Quote
msb Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 The last time I did some adjustments on the SG I flipped the bass upside down and the saddles fell out. And , of course , I managed to switch the D&G saddles so things didn’t quite line up when I was trying to set the relief. It didn’t take long to identify the issue and put the saddles in the right spots. I have four basses with three points and this was my first issue. I’ve always been able to set things to suit my playing style. I suppose I prefer medium low rather than real low. I normally play with a fairly light touch but I want to be able to play fairly hard without any buzzes. I grew up adjusting Fender bridges , and took the simple design for granted. And it’s funny , I use Danelectro basses with the popsicle stick bridge a lot , there is a spot where they will intonate! Quote
AndyTravis Posted Tuesday at 23:11 Posted Tuesday at 23:11 1994 LPB-2 Deluxe Got some Gibson Speed Knobs on the way, wearing some lovely black dome ones now - I’m not 100% convinced they’re original. Every other LPB-2 I’ve seen has speed knobs. 8 Quote
msb Posted Wednesday at 13:08 Posted Wednesday at 13:08 I put Jazz style knobs on my DC Jr , and will probably put them on my SG too. Quote
Peejay Posted Wednesday at 21:54 Posted Wednesday at 21:54 They're the same as those on my RD Artist Andy. Look like they're exactly the right ones. 1 Quote

Basvarken Posted Friday at 10:23 Posted Friday at 10:23 Easy fix 😉 Here's what a friend of mine did: Quote
