Hi retroman, I remember the lovely grain on your 76 T-Bird when it hung out with its mates at my house!
do you recognise it?

Hope you're enjoying it?

There's a white 77 TBird and a les Paul signature that should have been in there too. That was as silly as the collection got.
silly question but that is a KN sig RD bass to the left? if so/not, what do you make of it?

I always thought a Gibson with (trad' fender) jazz pickups could have won some bassists across considering Fenders crazy pricing antics and "nothing altogether new" scenario but apparently not :-/

It's not the krist signature. That has a smaller headstock. Mine was a standard RD. Sold it a while ago on ebay to Chris fom Muse.

for real? managed to find any media with him using it? :o

I think you should trade an RD for my Bright green Pedulla ;)

Better late than never, here is my ( heavily modded) 1972 Gibson SB.

Very few tones it can't produce now! ;)

This was my first "proper" bass which I bought (can't remember the price) in 1974 and gigged with it exclusively for two or three decades, hence the slight signs of wear and tear. :)

I have come VERY close to parting company with this bass, but have always eventually seen sense at the last moment, very often after receiving wise advice from BassChatters I might say!!

Apologies for appalling photography!!

I think this is the one we were talking about the other day, BSB.

I do like it!

'twas indeed, we found it at last (Y)

I like full scale basses and Gibsons, a short scale SG? No thanks :P

Does look nice and a step forward for Gibson, I don't see why they stopped.

Gibson basses, expressed as an algorithm:
REPEAT
create new bass
WHILE bass still available
FOR timer = 1 to a number picked out of a hat less than 10
sell bass
NEXT
IF NOT outsold Fender AND bass != Thunderbird THEN discontinue bass
ENDWHILE
UNTIL company bankrupt
NGBD (New Gibson Bass Day) - 2001 Gibson SG-Z bass:
Oooh - an SG-Z :gas: - I was amazed when they first came out - kept the magazine review of it for a very long time and was SO close to getting one, but the ex-SWMBO said it was too like the custom I'd just got.
Are the taps original? I didn't notice them before.

Yeah, the coil taps are standard. It's pretty subtle, but it's nice to beef up the bridge pickup in series and then balance it out with having the neck pickup in parallel or single coil.
