gary mac Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 It's about time that I got around to shielding all the cavities on mine and my daughters VMJ basses. Can anyone recommend a product and supplier. I'm thinking of a brush applied product, rather than foil. Thanks in advance. Gary. Quote

Gary.
I used conductive silver paint, sold by Maplin (you can order online) to screen the electronics cavity on a cheap Stagg fretless I was upgrading. I seem to remember it cost about £7 for a small pot, which was just enough to screen 1 bass. I used foil too, to line the inside of the plastic electronics cover on the back of the bass. This combination works perfectly. Hope this helps. Quote

yorks5stringer Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 (edited) Copper tape is very quick, shielding paint however takes a few days to dry. Edited February 4, 2010 by yorks5stringer Quote
gary mac Posted February 4, 2010 Author Posted February 4, 2010 Thanks chaps. Maybe I'll go with the foil option then. Quote
Metalmoore Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 I used some copper foil and my jazz is silent. does have a audere in it so dunno if that helps with the buzz Quote
Lfalex v1.1 Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 Go hardcore! Use copper foil tape, solder it to ground, and THEN paint it with the Graphite Acrylic Resin paint!!! Now that's noiseless! Quote
BassBunny Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 I got my Copper Sheet and Copper Tape from here. £5.00 for the lot. http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/stevent1358__W0QQ_armrsZ1 Quote
gabson Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 spray mount some kitchen foil into the cavity for the cheapest option! Quote

I would say go with the copper foil, and try to get the stuff with the conductive adhesive. Quote
