farmer61
So after a rush of buying kit I'm now at a stage where I have all of the basses that I think I've wanted, the only downside of my collection is that none are vintage (if that's an issue). So with a reasonably significant birthday approaching in 18 months time, and the need for some major pressie ideas, what should I looking for? cause I haven't got a clue tbh. I want it to be something that I've been gassing for over a period of time not something that is bought on a whim (normal style)

Clarky
Haven't you answered your question? You clearly have a hankering after a vintage bass. Go for a vintage Fender Precision, they're bl**dy great ... or alternatively a stretch limo, loaded with Cristal and bee-atches
Huw Foster
... or alternatively a stretch limo, loaded with Cristal and bee-atches
Real talk.
Rayman
Yeah, a nice old Fender, they really do have a soul other basses don't seem to have. I miss having a '78 Precision I foolishly moved on last year, but strangely an old Jap Squier Precision has filled it's boots admirably, I think I might prefer the Squier, it's fab, and in fact the Sado hasn't been out for a while because of it. If I was in the market for something special, I'd be looking for a nice vintage Jazz or Precision. I'll be 50 in 5 years time, maybe then. geoffbyrne
I suffered from 'lack of GAS' at one time. Don't worry. It doesn't last long. G.
farmer61
Budget?
£1500, assuming the recession doesn't get me
Marvin
Then something vintage may be possible.
warwickhunt
You have a Musicman Stingray, Fender Precision, Fender Jazz, Rickenbacker 4003, Gibson Thunderbird and a Double Bass... what you lack is a Warwick (or a Zon )!
Marvin
Or a custom build. Yeah, you know it makes sense. Not an expensive custom thing though, or not. How much does your usual custom build go for these days?
retroman
How about an old semi acoustic bass? Just a thought, as you have plenty of solid body stuff
