Paul Cooke
To me, it means it's unused stock that's in as new condition but was actually made some time ago... To Fender? Well: "This bass has been given our “New Old Stock” (NOS) treatment—built (from original tooling) as if bought new in its respective model year and just found today. " so N.O.S. isn't what you or I would take to mean as N.O.S. They're confusing the issue here and demeaning the real meaning of N.O.S. Jean-Luc Pickguard
I don't think there should be any real confusion - its just a way of describing the time machine models that haven't been given the relic treatment. They also have the closet classic range which apparently has something to do do with Tom Cruise.

Sibob
Given the context of Fender's Time Machine series.....i don't see the difference between what you think it is, and their description. Imagine if they found a batch of untouched '62 Jazzes in a dusty cupboard somewhere...

They're not saying it is! They describe the NOS as: "This bass has been given our “New Old Stock” (NOS) treatment—built (from original tooling) as if bought new in its respective model year and just found today" Notice the speech marks around the "New Old Stock" suggesting its a model name rather then actual NOS, and that it has undergone a 'treatment' to attain the effect, and then later on in the sentence the "...as if brought new...", the "as if" highlighting the effect they're going for and nothing else. Its seems fairly obvious to me! Si
