There you go mate, 1971 5 string fretless :)
TBH, I'd love that if I could play upright.
I have often considered getting a 62 P then I remember I dont have 5 grand - I have a one-string banjo the same age as me but thats not something i want to go into on this forum.

Hear hear - I'm of the same vintage myself. We didn't really have that much choice then, when you consider what was about in the seventies when I started playing...
83 just doesn't seem to be a good year for basses.
I was born in 1983 and have found many, many basses that I lust after:

Squier JV:

If a Jazz is your thing:

This guy seems to have sold this bass at least 3 times, which is a bit suspicious, but I do love Vintage White:

And the ultimate- a 1983 '57 RI in Surf Green, it could only be better if they chucked in a free strap and complimentary Eva Green.

If the pound wasn't so crap against the €, I would have snapped up one of those JVs

OK what I should say is I haven't found any Jazzes from that year that I like.

It was a rather sweeping statement.

[ I read about a guy who's gone and bought a bass that was made the same year that he was, just because. This strikes me as an excellent idea - though I know that really I just like it because it gives me a 'reason' to buy another bass.]

Precisely, that's why I got the 61P.....

love it!
