Loud enough is relative, I have a bassman 135 valve amp in a 5 piece covers band and it just cuts it. These amps are 50 watts, so try before you buy if you can. Mr. Foxen
so anyone played one? how do they sound? are they loud enough?
Depends what you do and what cabs. Think they are a bit of a collectors item, so could be looked at as an investment.
umph
thats an alright price for one not an absolute steal, wether it'll keep up with your band though i don't know, guessing the original cab wont cut it at all.
MacDaddy
I had a Traynor 60w valve bass combo. It was quite old and heavy and had limited tonal options but it made a beautiful sound, lots of bottom end without sounding muffled - I used it with a USA Jazz. Loved it but it wasn't loud enough to gig with.
DirkThrust
I played a 50th birthday party a couple of weeks ago for our guitarist's brother and the bass player in the brother's band had a Traynor amp and an old Peavey 4x12. It sounded absolutely monster - loud, fat and grindy. I looked for some pics of the YBA-1 on the t'net and it looks like that was what it was. It had 4 inputs anyway. MIJ-VI
Cool! You've got (IIRC) the final version of this amp (subject to any revisions in its circuitry).
joegarcia
Friend of mine has a YBA-1 he runs through a Markbass 4x10 and it sounds massive, very loud and bassy.
