Good, Affordable Power supplies

Hi guys, looking for a decent affordable (<£100) power supply (brick) for my impending pedal board.

I never realised that they were so expensive!!!

any suggestions?

i got a T-Rex PSU recently - has 5 isolated 9V supplies, and you can use the supplied lead to double up 2 for an 18v supply (awesome if you have a bassdrive!). can also daisy chain for lower powered pedals..

totally depends what your needs are though, i only need to power about 5 pedals, so the little T-Rex is prfect for me (VERY small footprint on the board too).. think it's about £85. Their bigger power supplies are over £100 though.

Bass Big Muff
MXR bass octave deluxe (or EBS Octabass)
A yet undecided Envelope Filter
Boss pedal tuner (Tu-2 i think it is)

maybe 1 more eventually.

this sounds perfect IMO. it's what i use, costs about £85, and gives you lots of options (9V, 18V and daisy chain)

i used to have a similar psu from maplins. should run your pedals fine, but in my experience noisy as hell, as not isolated. there's a reason it's cheap!

I had an SKB pedal board with built-in PSU and another cheap(-ish) PSU (I forget the brand). I had terrible problems with oscillator noise from my ChoralFlamnge being injected via the PSU into one of my fuzz pedals and also present on the output of the ChoralFlange. It was unusable.

The problems went away as soon as I bought the Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2. Pricey though.

I did wonder if the Diago might have been just as good (if not better) a solution though....

I've been checking out the T-Rex Feul Tank Junior and it looks like a nice piece of kit... mid range (pricewise i'd say from what i've seen)

I have the T-REx Junior as well. It's perfect. No hum etc. Don't buy cheap, as you will just end up spending more on another one. Get one with isolated outputs (like the T-Rex).

Our old guitarist had one of those, it struggled to power all of his pedals as he had quite a few, also it was quite noisy


Maybe worth using a daisy chain lead until something comes up 2nd hand? I picked up a nice Dinosaur brick on here for £20 and it's still doing the job

Hang on, that looks a bit good! And only 40 euros? What's the catch here? I'm assuming that the outputs aren't isolated?

Anyone own on of these and care to give a run-down/review type thingy?

EDIT: There's a bit on it [url="http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=28342"]here[/url] dealing with the maximum current provided by the powerplant, but nothing else, if anyone's interested.

doubleEDIT: Have actually found some information, on a site [url="http://www.stinkfoot.se/andreas/diy/power/psu.htm"]here[/url] about a lot of power supplies in general, might be worth a look/bookmark. Will post the link in it's own thread in this section as well, as it may interest quite a few people.

Easy now. I bought a power brick from Maplins for a similar price, and while it wasn't the same make as that one, I think the price tag had a lot to answer for. Namely, the excessive sparking that occurred after about a year of regular use. I switched it off at the wall and never used it again.

Maybe a different model. My guitarist has one of those and had for over a year and no problems, only had to change a fuse once.

I use a Power bank, too.
powers all of the pedals listed in my signature at once.

I only got it cause I was on a really right budget. I will upgrade soon-ish I hope, but for now it does its job great

I think so
I was told by a friend before that Boss pedals are made especially to power off of eachother.

but I dont know for sure.
